The Mobile Cube
Leave it to Switzerland to come up with an ultra-efficient means of independently producing clean energy and enough drinking water for 6,000 people in Africa- per day.
Developed and patented by Ardeo AG in St. Gallen, Switzerland, the Mobile Cube is a modular power and water plant. Producing zero emissions and compact enough to be set up within an hour, the Mobile Cube combines solar and wind energy, requiring no fuel and incurring minimal maintenance costs. The applications of a system like this are widely varied, supporting anything from water treatment and desalination to irrigation, refrigeration and climate control. Just one of these units can produce a maximum of 33 kilowatt hours of power per day, three times the power requirement of a four-person household in Switzerland. From another perspective, the Mobile Cube can produce enough water for the daily consumption of 120 people.
Retailing for €60,000, the Mobile Cube is exceptionally affordable for a product of its kind. With a guaranteed life cycle of 25 years, it can boast something that no state supplier can- a fixed price on energy and water for over two decades, all for €200 per month.
