The MAX amphibious ATV

max_atv_3.jpgYour friends have just dropped anchor in a nearby lagoon to pay you a visit. The trouble is you’ve nicely resigned yourself to island time for the day, the gravel road that connects your modular home to the waterfront is a long one, and you’ve still got fifty or a hundred meters of water to cross before it’s time to grill.

For adventurous types, this little problem is hardly a problem at all. The MAX, an amphibious, six-wheel drive ATV, is designed to roll from land to sea and back again- not to mention over snow, ice, rock, mud or any other obstacle you can think of.

Developed by Recreatives Industries, Inc. in Buffalo, New York, this easy to drive all-terrain vehicle comes complete with an automatic transmission, full-time six-wheel drive and seating capacity for two people. Over land, the standard model can hit speeds of 25 miles per hour, while cruising along at 4 miles per hour in water. That, of course, is the most unique selling point if this sturdy, versatile vehicle. Fully amphibious, it can cross shallow depths with ease, including snow and swamps if the tires are refit with tracks. With a steel chassis and a virtually invincible high-density polyethylene body, this is one off-roader perfectly designed for a rugged lifestyle.
