Private Island S’mores
Whether your island is in Tuvalu, Tobago or Toronto there is no better private island treat than a s’more. S’mores are almost synonymous with family, friends, cool starry nights and we believe private islands. Here are some of our favorite private island s’more recipes.
The Original S’more
- Build a campfire for toasting marshmallows.
- Find a long stick from the woods (a thin, long wooden dowell or a untwisted clothes hanger also work). The stick, which is usually taken from the ground as part of a dead treebranch, does not have to be sterilized, but simply clear of any brush.
- Before roasting the marshmallows, one must prepare the pieces of graham cracker, and a layer of chocolate. Break the crackers in half, one square will be fore the top and the other for the bottom. Break the chocolate bar into pieces equal to the size of the graham cracker.

- Push a marshmallow on to the end of the stick. Using the stick to place the marshmallow directly above the flame or source of heat, toast the marshmallow until it is golden brown around the outside. Some prefer their marshmallow burned. Others like to burn the marshmallow and pull off the burned outer skin to get to the gooey center.
- Place the toasted marshmallow in between two pieces of graham cracker, with a layer of chocolate bar in between. The marshmallow should be hot enough to melt the chocolate. In a family setting, sometimes it is helpful for children to roast the marshmallows, and adults to supervise and assemble the s’more while preventing the child from touching the hot end of the stick.
- There you have a simple and delicious classic s’more
Here are some other s’more recipes that may be better suited to your island region. The following recipes are not as detailed as the original, however the basics are the same. Therefore reference it if needed.
Mexican Island S’more
- 1-Package of flour tortillas
- 1-Jar of Crunchy Peanut-Butter
- 1-Bag of Semisweet Chocolate Chips
- 1- Bag of Mini Marshmallows
Take the tortillas and spread on peanut butter, then sprinkle on chocolate chips and marshmallows. Fold up, wrap in foil. Put in the for just a few minutes and you have an “authentic” Mexican S’more.
The Canadian Island S’more
- 1 graham cracker, broken in half.
- 1 thin slice of maple syrup fudge
- 1 toasted marshmallow
- 2 vertically sliced pieces of apple (optional)
To create a Canadian Island s’more substitute the chocolate for a piece of maple syrup fudge. Since the fudge is very sweet you only need a thing slice. You can also use maple syrup but it tends to be sticky so its best to use the fudge. If you are feeling adventurous consider adding slices of apple on top of the melted marshmallow with the maple fudge. The flavor combination is truly delicious and very Canadian.
The American Island S’more
- Milk chocolate
- 1 graham cracker, broken in half
- Fresh blueberries
- 1 marshmallow
- 1 thick strawberry slice
Arrange the chocolate on half of the graham cracker. Set blueberries atop chocolate and melt, being careful not to lose the blueberries in transport. Roast the marshmallow. Once chocolate has melted, remove graham cracker from heat and lightly press blueberries to secure them in place. Top with the strawberry slice, roasted marshmallow, and remaining graham cracker.
Tropical Island S’more
