Island ATVs

ATV, all-terrain vehicle, Island ATVsDepending on the size, location and terrain of your island you may find it challenging, time consuming or unsafe to traverse your island by foot. All-terrain vehicles or ATVs are an excellent compromise to this problem. ATV is a broad term used to describe any number of motorized vehicles for off-road use. Although typically equipped with three or four wheels, some companies also produce models with six wheels and models with treads instead of tires. ATV tires are effective for navigating rocky, muddy, and root covered terrain, which make them excellent for usage on islands with rough terrains.

ATVs can be put into roughly three categories, recreational, work and hybrid. Recreational ATVs are idea for trail riding, work ATVs are heavier and more durable and designed to handle large weights. Hybrids, which are ideal for island owners are a blend of the first two types and offer a compromise between recreational and work capabilities.

There is no shortage of selection when it comes to choosing an ATV. There are innumerable shapes, sizes and colours to choose from. When selecting an ATV keep in mind that bigger isn’t necessarily better, weight and size can be a big disadvantage in certain circumstances. The trick, says one expert is to buy an ATV that is just big enough to meet your needs.

Island ATVs are ideal for private islands and private island resorts as they allow you to transport people and materials quickly, safely and efficiently. There are some things to consider when deciding to purchase an ATV for your island.

ATV, all-terrain vehicle, Island ATVsFirst, consider the terrain of your island. Consult with a professional sales associate about what type of ATV would be ideal for your island. Secondly, since you do not need a license to operate an ATV there tends to a misconception that this means that they are easy to operate and that it is safe for children to use them. To operate an ATV safely, it takes time and practice and it is not recommended that children operate them. Many experts recommend taking a training course before using an ATV and riders should always wear safety gear such as helmets, eye protection, a chest protector and gloves. Finally take the environment into consideration. Islands typically have a delicate ecological balance. Therefore it is widely recommended that owners lay out a series of paths on their island that allow people to traverse the island without compromising its environment.

ATVs are as diverse in price as they are in features. Given their relative popularity among the general population ATVs can be purchased new or used virtually anywhere. New, small 70cc ATVs can cost as little as $ 900 whereas larger 300cc ATVs can cost as much as $5,400.
